What is Risk at a Glance

This article will introduce you to our Risk at a Glance feature, describing its benefits, how it works, and how to use it.

Introduction

The Risk at a Glance feature significantly adds to the Transect platform. It offers users a direct insight into potential risks associated with specific sites, streamlining the process of making well-informed decisions about site suitability without the need for detailed reports.

Benefits

  1. Immediate Access to Risk Information: Aggregated risk data, which was previously only available in detailed Transect reports, is now immediately viewable upon site discovery.
  2. Informed Decision Making: With the color-coded parcels viewable at a high level, users can quickly determine the suitability of a site based on its associated risk level.

How It Works

The feature aggregates risk data using a simple color-coding system:

  • Red: High risk
  • Yellow: Moderate risk
  • Green: Low risk

The color codes represent aggregated scores from:

  • Species
  • Waters
  • Protected Areas
  • Environmental Compliance

Using the Feature

1. Basic Usage:

High-level View: Without any filter applied, you can see color-coded parcels across the map. This helps in quickly determining which sites might be suitable based on their risk levels.

2. Map Layers:

Under the Map Layers, navigate to the Parcel Layer.

Opacity Control: This allows you to adjust the visibility of risk areas, which is especially useful when other layers, such as the "buildable area", are active.

Turning Off the Feature: If you wish to hide the risk data, toggle off the "Risk at a Glance" option within the Parcel Data Layer.

3. Parcel Filters:

Boundary Tool: Located under the parcel filters, use this tool to select specific areas on the map. Setting a boundary using this tool triggers the appearance of the Details Pane on the right.

The pane showcases: The total acreage and pixel count within the boundary. Buildability data based on selected criteria.

Other filters allow users to set criteria such as minimum or maximum acreage. Applying these filters will update the site selection to only show parcels that fit within the specified range.Screen Recording 2023-08-30 at 03.07.24 PM

4. Site Selection Flyout:

This pane provides an in-depth breakdown of the site selection:

Concern Breakout: Displaying the percentages of your selection categorized as low, medium, or high concern.

Waters Concerns: Users have the option to include or exclude concerns related to waters, and this choice influences the data presented.
