Learn how to troubleshoot issues affecting the platform’s loading speed.
We understand that slow loading times can be frustrating. If you're encountering this issue with your Reports, Map, or Dashboard, here are some ways you can troubleshoot:
- Refresh your browser
We recommend refreshing your browser as a first step to ensure you're operating on the most updated version of Transect. You may also notice the orange refresh icon in the top navigation bar to indicate a recent update: - Clear your cache and cookies
Clearing your cookies and cache can help resolve browsing issues, such as slow loading times or outdated content. You can follow the steps in this article to clear your browser’s cache and cookies. - Update your browser
An outdated browser can affect the performance of various websites. Transect works best with the latest versions of these browsers:- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
- Check your data
- Map: If you notice slower load times in the map, check to see how many data layers are applied. Reducing the number of data layers applied can impact how quickly the Map loads. If you’re using the Parcel Filter, we recommend applying additional filters to reduce the amount of parcels that will be shown.
- Reports: There may be a few factors that impact your report’s loading time:
-
- Slow report generation: If you notice your report is loading very slowly, the geometry may be too complex and/or include multiple geometry types. This article explains some of the common issues that may arise when uploading KMLs. We recommend separating your area of interest into separate files to ensure they can be processed.
- Slow time to open a report: If you open a report and the data won’t load, it’s most likely due to the area being too large. Report sizes can vary depending on the report region's density, diversity, and complexity. In more dense areas, it’s recommended to run reports on smaller areas.
- Slow export generation: If you’re noticing slow load times when exporting a PDF, this could be due to the slope or parcels layers. This could depend on the complexity (slope) in the area or how many parcels are associated with the project area. If your export doesn’t process, we recommend removing those layers from your export to allow it to process. You’ll also receive a notification in the bell icon if an export fails with information on which layer is affected.

- Check your network connection
Your network speed is directly correlated to Transect's loading time. You can run a speed test at speedtest.net to confirm your current network speed.
