Enabling OAuth SSO for your Transect account

Transect now offers the option to enable Single Sign-On (SSO) for your organization. In this article, we’ll review:

Please note that Transect currently only supports OAuth and does not support OAuth2.

What are the benefits of SSO?

Single Sign-On (SSO) allows users to access Transect using their existing corporate credentials, eliminating the need for separate Transect logins. This provides several benefits:

  • Simplified Access: Users log in with familiar credentials.
  • Enhanced Security: Centralized authentication reduces password-related risks.
  • Improved User Experience: No need to remember multiple passwords.
  • Streamlined Management: Manage user access through your IT Admin.

How to Enable SSO

  • Contact Transect Support:
    • Submit a support ticket through our chat or email us at support@transect.com. Please include any relevant information about your request.
  • Complete the SSO Enablement form and provide the following:
    • Transect Support will provide you with an enablement form where you can specify the metadata from your OAuth Identify Provider (IdP). This includes:
      • Authorization Endpoint URL
      • Token Endpoint API
      • User Info Endpoint URL
      • User Info API Response Properties for
        • User ID
        • Email
        • Email Verification Status
  • Transect Configuration:
    • Our engineering team will configure the SSO connection using your provided metadata. Once the SSO attributes are mapped, users will log in using their organization's credentials and will be routed successfully.

Resetting your Password

If your organization uses SSO, password resets are handled by your OAuth Identify Provider (IdP). Contact your IT administrator for assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which service providers are compatible with Transect SSO?

Transect supports most OAuth service providers, including Google, OKTA, and others. Please contact support to confirm compatibility.

How long does SSO implementation take?

Implementation time varies based on service provider and level of complexity. Users with Google SSO should expect it to be set up within 1 week. Custom SSO may take longer to implement and require additional information. 

Why can’t I log in?

Please contact your organization’s IT administrator if you’re unable to login. 

How do I reset my password?

Please refer to the section above about resetting your password. If your organization does not use SSO, you can follow the steps in this article to reset your password.
