Override Concern Levels, Species, and Permits

Learn how to adjust report concern levels, permits, and regulations.

Transect Reports offer "overrides" to customize the findings in the Executive Summary, species concern levels, and regulations/permits. This allows you to tailor reports to specific needs, focus on crucial data for a particular project, or exclude irrelevant regulations or species.

Developers often use overrides when they have project-specific knowledge and are trying to refine the Executive Summary for a specific purpose.  Overrides allow the content of the Executive Summary to be tailored to the needs of a specific user, such as financiers, project managers, project analysts, origination teams, subcontractors such as interconnection engineers or design engineers, surveyors, or for environmental permitting.

In this article, you’ll learn how to:

You must be an Owner or Collaborator on a report to make these changes.

Overriding Concern Levels in the Executive Summary

Within the Executive Summary is the Concern Assessment, which indicates the concern level (red, yellow, green) for species, waters, protected areas, and environmental compliance. You can change the concern level with the following steps:

  • From the Dashboard, open an existing Transect Report.
  • Select a concern level from the left-side menu from the following options:
    • Species
    • Waters
    • Protected Areas
    • Environmental Compliance
  • In the upper right-hand corner, select +Add Override.
  • Within the pop-out, select a new concern level: Low (green), Moderate (yellow), or High (red). Next, add an override reason.
  • When finished, click Save.

The override reason, date, and user will be displayed at the top of the Executive Summary.

Overriding Species Concern Levels

In addition to overriding an overall species concern level, you can also modify the concern level for individual species to indicate whether it is a species of concern, may occur, or is not likely to occur.

  • From the Dashboard, open an existing Transect Report.
  • Under “Key Details”, select Species and then select either Federal Profiles or State Profiles.
  • Locate the applicable species and select a new concern level on the right-hand side. You can choose from Species of Concern, May Occur, and Not Likely to Occur.
  • In the pop-out, add an override reason and click Save
  • When finished, select Save Changes at the top of the page to lock in your settings.

The user requesting the override and the override reason will be displayed next to the species on the profile page.

Hiding Regulations and Permits

If a permit or regulation is not relevant to your project, you can hide it from being included in your final report.

  • From the Dashboard, open an existing Transect Report.
  • Under “Key Details”, select Permit Matrix. Alternatively, you can also select Species or Waters from the left-side menu, then select Regulations from the dropdown.
  • Next to the applicable regulation or permit, select the eye icon.
  • In the pop-out, add a hide reason and click Save

You can unhide a permit/regulation by following the same steps to add it back. The user requesting to hide the permit/regulation and hide reason will be displayed next to the permit/regulation.
