Create a site selection search area

The first step in site selection is defining your search area. Learn 3 ways to define it in this article.

The first step in site selection is defining your search area. The search area defines the geographic bounds in which the site selection process will occur. You will define your search area in one of the following ways:

  1. By drawing your search area with the polygon tool
  2. By uploading a KML
  3. By selecting one or more counties

Draw your search area with the polygon tool

  1. Navigate to the site selection tab in Vision
  2. Click on the polygon tool on the map
  3. Draw your desired search area
  4. When are you done drawing your search area, click the "Save Drawn Objects as Site Selection" button
  5. You will then proceed to the next step, which is completing your site selection request.

Upload a KML

  1. Navigate to the site selection tab in Vision
  2. Click on the Upload KML as Site Selection button
  3. Browse to your saved KML file and click Open
  4. You will then proceed to the next step, which is completing your site selection request.

Select by County

  1. Navigate to the site selection tab in Vision
  2. In the Geography dropdown, search for the name of the county that you want to include as the search area
  3. Click on the name of the county in the dropdown - the map will zoom to and highlight the selected county as a drawn object
  4. Repeat for any additional counties
  5. To delete one or more counties from your search area, click on the county then click on the trashcan icon to delete it, or use the "delete all drawn objects" icon to delete all selected counties and start over.
  6. When you are finished selecting your counties, click "Save Drawn Objects as Site Selection"
  7. You will then proceed to the next step, which is completing your site selection request.
